2002 Dark Bay Hanoverian

Sir-Shutterfly-Kopf

Sir Shutterfly has been standing at Fairlight Stud near Bristol in recent years, following successful stints in Ireland and at Paul Schockemohle’s stallion station in Germany.

Potentially best known for being a full brother to the international show jumping phenomenon Shutterfly, Sir Shutterfly was a Bundeschampionate qualifier and successful competitor to S level in his own right.

An elegant and neat horse, he shows his Thoroughbred heritage clearly, but also adds a lovely jumping technique and wonderful ridability to back up the genetic potential he carries from both his sire and exceptional dam. In Germany he was primarily used to breed jumpers, but since moving to Ireland and now the UK, the eventing market has him on their radar, and his eventing bred offspring look sure to make an impact in the next few years.Sir-Shutterfly

Offspring:

Sir Shutterfly is proving to be an excellent foal producer, both in the UK and abroad, but more importantly his stock jump. What he is often noted as passing on to his offspring is a great canter, and a good frame and topline. His oldest offspring are 10 this year (2017) and a good number of them have international results at 1.40m plus. Among his most noticeable offspring are:

Hummels Green Day – out of Hummels Aicha (Aston x Ramiro Z). This Danish Warmblood licensed stallion was the champion jumping colt of the 2010 Dansk Varmblod Elite Foal Show. He was also the most expensive foal at the following auction. In 2016 he started his FEI career jumping in the Youngster Tour with Norwegian Solveig Hassal Loes.

At first glance it appears the fame of Sir Shutterfly’s dam line is solely due to Shutterfly himself. Shutterfly and Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum won three World Cup Finals, the Aachen Grand Prix, two bronze medals at the 2006 World Equestrian Games and individual gold and team silver at the European Championships. He was retired at the age of 18, the day after winning another big class at Aachen.

Their dam Famm was named Hanoverian mare of the Year in 2007, not only due to the two full brother’s achievements but also her sons Remedi D (by Rouletto) and Let’s Fly (by Lordanos) who both competed internationally. Let’s Fly jumped in the World Cup Final with Rodrigo Pessoa and won a number of 5 star Grand Prix. Another son Salut Bonheur was licensed Hanoverian and competed to 1.50m level with Toni Hassmann.

The newly licensed Hanoverian premium stallion Prinz Shutterfly (Perigueux x Graf Top) is another exciting prospect from this direct motherline, his granddam being a full sister to Sir Shutterfly. Another stallion to hail from this family is Gluecksstern, who is known to British breeders as the sire of Katy Holder Vale’s late Glucksfall.

Sir Shutterfly’s sire Silvio stood for most of his life at Schockemohle. He was a versatile stallion who also produced some dressage horses with a number of Bundeschampionate competitors to his name. He was the winner of his performance test, with the highest marks for jumping ability and it was in this sphere he was best known as a sire and competitor. He also produced the mare Tettina who was European Mare Champion in Brussels. Another son Sternstunde was Reserve Champion 6yo at Lanaken. He shares a sire (Sandro) with Schockemohle’s great dressage sire Sandro Hit.

As a potential eventing sire Sir Shutterfly has Thoroughbred blood close up through his dam sire Forrest. Forrest also appears closeup in the motherline of the leading international dressage competitor Don Johnson FRH (Isabel Werth) and produced a number of licensed sons, state premium daughters and Grand Prix dressage competitors. More Thoroughbred blood comes directly through the sire line thanks to Sacramento Song.
