2008 Dark Bay Oldenburg 15.2hh
There are some hidden treasures among the UK’s stallion population and one with a very interesting show jumping pedigree is the SPSS & Breeder’s Elite approved Land Star.
His pedigree contains bloodlines that have influenced everything from Olympic stars, to Junior & pony team stalwarts.
At his approval, Land Star’s jumping prowess was especially noted and he competed BS with double clears at British Novice, Newcomers and Discovery and won 5 year old age classes. For 2018 he is returning home to Delaroche Stud so that he is available for breeding both fresh and chilled.
Landstar only has a small crop of foals on the ground, out of a wide range of mares, including small competition pony mares, to big rangy sport horses. He has stamped them all with his own rubber ball style athleticism and always with his own very pretty head.

Land Star’s sire Lauriston was bred by Paul Schockemohle and was the 6yo Bundeschampion of 1992. He then went on to compete internationally with Jos Lansink and Ben Schroder.
From limited opportunities he sired some very smart horses that include: Promise Me (2004 Olympics with Ian Miller), Lausanna (World Cup Qualifiers and Spanish Nations Cup team), Maurits (who confusingly jumped under the name Lauriston competed in the 2004 World Cup Final), Laceful (2003 European Championships), Road Runner (2011 European Championships), Universe (CCI**** including Badminton), Carryon Bobby Boy (CCI***), ESF Top Contender (9 years old and just started CSI****) Renkum Dorenda (Hickstead Novice Champion and now jumping CSI*** for Canada, only 15hh)
Lauriston is also the dam sire of the best 148cm jumping pony of recent times- Tixylix (multiple European individual and team medals)
Laurison is a grandson of the great Landgraf (Libero, Landadel, Burgraff etc) and Land Star carries a second cross of this Holstein legend, through his dam Lara who is a great grand daughter.
Lara herself is a daughter of Lando, who won the individual Silver medal at the Sydney Olympics. He is the sire of Grand Prix winners Lacan and Ornella Mail among others.
In the next generation is Quick Star who was one of Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum’s first top international stars. He sired another of her good horses – La Stella and is best known as the sire of double Olympic gold medallist (& British based stallion) Big Star.
The immediate damline has produced the 1.40m jumpers Cento Star and Balouan and S level competitor Sunny Tjecco. Lara has produced two younger full siblings to Land Star that have just started their BS careers – Tresais Liquid Gold and Tresais Lancelot.
