1998 Brown Danish Warmblood 167cm

Occasionally in this section we feature stallions who are no longer with us, but who have readily available frozen semen for the UK market. One such stallion that is worthy of consideration even to the modern breeder, is Broadstone Landmark.

Reserve Champion of the Danish Warmblood grading in 1991, he went one place better on his move to the UK, being awarded the Champion Title at the 1992 British Warmblood grading. A successful competition career followed, up to CCI** level before a broken hock led to his retirement from sport.

He carries some very interesting older jumping lines and is also a proven sire of both 4 star winners and top show horses, making him still a very interesting sire to consider. Broadstone Landmark frozen semen is still available from Balinmore Stud.

Offspring:

It is as the sire of Mark Todd’s 2011 Badminton winner Landvision that Landmark will be remembered for. This beautiful grey had already won National titles in dressage, before starting his eventing career. But there are a number of other very good offspring that have represented him.

Landmark’s Holstein sire Lancier is best known as the sire of Olympic individual silver medallist Lando as well as a number of other licensed stallion sons. He is a direct son of the sensation Landgraf, one of the most important show jumping stallions ever.

The damsire Goldfinger was licensed in Hanover, Denmark and Sweden.  He was by another phenomenal producer of show jumpers – Gotthard , who for 7 years was the leading producer of show jumpers in Germany.  The great damsire is Raimondo, who interestingly is the damsire of Lando, Lancier’s best son!
