On Thursday 14th June, the Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show ran their Elite Foal and Yearling Auction in the beautiful grounds of Bolesworth Castle. Once again the auction attracted high caliber national and international buyers looking to source youngstock with impeccable jumping pedigrees.
Three foals were knocked down for £24,000 or more, with the top price of £24,500 being achieved by the final lot of the night, a very well grown grey daughter of Untouchable out of the full sister to the one and only Big Star.
The two preceding lots made £24,000 apiece. Italian buyers took a flashy daughter of For Pleasure out of the 1.50m mare Cover Queen H (Cassini I) and remaining in the UK was a Cornet Obolensky half brother to Global Champion Tour/Nation’s Cup horse Casallo Z
British bred youngstock sold well too, including Millfield Stud’s smart big colt foal by Cornet Obolensky out of Helena Lunback’s international mare Caught in Action and Gornall Equestrian’s colt by the new Stallion’s AI resident Christian out of Ellen Whitaker’s top partner Le Beau ( Carolus II)
The auction is certainly setting the standard for British auctions with a very well presented catalogue with the dam line information set out in a traditional thoroughbred pedigree style, and video footage of sire and dam, or close relations being available to view in advance and on the night. Coupled with a strict selection process for ‘black type’ pedigrees and the auction can rightly claim to be ‘Elite’
